On June 13, 2022, the COE conducted its first advisor committee meeting. The theme of the discussion was to give an overview of the project objectives and discuss the strategic roadmap of the center.

The meeting began with the opening remarks from Ms. Kay Leherr, Deputy Officer Director for Education and Health and from the Egyptian Side, Dr. Ayman Ashour Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Mahmoud el Mitanni, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Omr el Hussainy, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

During the meeting, Dr. Sayfe Kiaei, COE Director, presented the COE roadmap and how the center can create a positive impact on the energy sector within Egypt. A discussion followed the presentation among USAID representatives, stockholders, staff, and the key speaker. All the committee members agreed that there is an essential need to develop professional renewable energy certifications, and exchange training courses for undergraduate/postgraduates, encouraging entrepreneurship and encouraging private sector engagement, as well as working on developing policy and regulations for energy in Egypt.

The meeting was attended by Ms.Leherr, Deputy Officer Director for Education and Health USAID, Dr. Ashour, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. El Mitanni, President of Ain Shams University, Deans of Engineering of the EPUs, Dr. Essam Shaban COP for Center of Excellence for water and COEE team members.
