COE/E International Faculty Fellows Program
COE/E International Faculty Fellows (CIF) Program
Program Dates: February 1 – May 31, 2025
Deadline to Apply: September 28, 2024
The Center of Excellence for Energy (COE/E) is launching a one-term faculty fellowship program at Arizona State University (ASU-US) for Egyptian faculty from Ain Shams University (ASU-EG), Mansoura University (MU), and Aswan University (AU) in energy-related fields. This is an opportunity for visiting faculty members to learn and develop skills that will enhance the faculty’s professional and scholarly capacity. During their time at Arizona State University, faculty are expected to collaborate on research projects with ASU faculty, actively engage in teaching development activities, exchange energy insights at seminars and conferences, and build professional connections. Faculty may be asked to give a presentation or write a report on the program’s outcomes as well as participate in social, cultural, and recreational events during the semester.
ASU-US has established the COE/E in Egypt with funding and support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Launched in 2021, the COE/E project is a partnership between ASU-US and the three Egyptian partner universities (EPUs): ASU-EG, MU, and AU.
The CIF program will cover expenses for faculty members’ international travel, lodging and utilities, health insurance, meals, and a living stipend for participants. ASU-US will provide resources such as the laboratory access necessary for planned research, university library privileges, affiliate access, including an official ASU email account, Microsoft Office license, Zoom license, etc., and office space.
The program is open to full-time faculty members with a PhD at Ain Shams University, Mansoura University, or Aswan University who are conducting research in energy-related areas, including, but not limited to:
- Electrical engineering
- Mechanical engineering
- Chemical engineering
- Architecture and civil engineering
- Energy-efficient buildings and transportation
- Energy policy and related laws
- Energy economics
- Energy sustainability and
- Water–energy–food nexus
- Environmental energy-related sciences
CIF program participants must have a recommendation letter from a sponsoring Arizona State University faculty member and submit a plan for research in an energy area such as energy efficiency and automation, renewable energy, energy-environment interdependency, sustainable energy, energy policy, regulation or transition, energy-water nexus, etc.
Applicant research proposals should highlight their research area, collaboration plans with ASU faculty, and the expected impact on COE/E goals and Egypt’s energy sector. A summary, project description, and key deliverables should be included.
