Walid El- Khattam

Dr. Walid is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Power and Machines and Head of the Energy and Renewable Energy Engineering Program at the Ain Shams University Faculty of Engineering. He worked as a consultant for UNDP, EU, USAID, and the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA). His area of research is distributed generation performance; renewable energy resources’ codes, operation, and regulatory aspects related to their integration into the grid; microgrids and smart grids; and electricity markets.
He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and joined the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas as a research associate. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow for the University of Western Ontario and as a researcher for Hydro One, the distribution utility serving Ontario province
